About Julia Murphy
How does a therapist become a jeweler? Surprisingly, there really is a close link between the two crafts. A therapist hopes to shed light on the inner world of each client. Jewelry, as well, acts as an agent of personality and soul. It has the power to communicate the emotion and inner story of the wearer. Each of us also has a unique psychological response to the color and symbolism of precious stones.
Jewelry making represents the spirited, poetic, and imaginative side of me. It has been the one constant throughout my adult life, following a childhood filled with crafting, beading and creating. With an eye for fresh color combinations and inventive symmetry, I love creating art out of natural gemstones and precious metals.
My design inspiration comes from the endless variety of the natural world – leaves, flowers, birds, sky. I am also influenced by my international upbringing, travel, architecture, and furniture design. Input from my filmmaker daughter, Louisa, helps keep the brand young and fresh.
